The best employers find employees with the right work skills. Some are new. Others are timeless — having been in demand for a long time. Best you KNOW what skill sets employers want so you can stay employed or get employed.
Work skills are important because they are the skills that employers are looking for in today’s workforce. They are also the skills that will help people to be successful in their personal and professional lives.

What are Work Skills?
21st century skills are the skills that people need to succeed in a an economy the includes interacting with different types of Ais. These include both hard skills, such as critical thinking and problem solving, and soft skills, such as communication and collaboration.
Any system tends to teach what worked in the past not necessarily what worked in the future. This is especially true of educational systems which are very slow to adapt.

What are the challenges of developing 21st century skills?
There are some challenges to developing 21st century skills. Some of the most notable challenges include:
- The pace of change in the 21st century economy is rapid, which can make it difficult to keep up with the latest skills.
- The cost of developing 21st century skills can be high, especially for those who do not have access to resources such as classes, workshops, or extracurricular activities.
- Some people may not be motivated to develop 21st century skills, especially if they do not see the immediate benefits.

Smart employers understand what schools and universities neglect to teach. This seems to be a problem in many countries such as India
Most employers will train in the technical area since software applications are not commonly taught. And the specifics such as how to run industrial machinery are clearly out of bounds of the university. But they just don’t train in soft skills.
Discussion on Survey. The survey says employers want: teamwork. communication skills, leadership, work ethic (four out of the top five). Not all of these soft skills. So these types of skills are important despite the fact they are neglected in most degree programs. I suppose you could make an argument saying it is imported because it is not covered.
